Growth Requires Change
Growth Requires Change
There’s a tendency to pride ourselves on declaring that we have not changed. As if to suggest that to change — to evolve — makes us less authentic.
Authenticity does not mandate stagnation. Authenticity not only accommodates but demands growth.
Nature confirms this truth. Species that fail to adapt and evolve die.
Growth requires change.
To remain exactly the way we are is to acknowledge that we have nothing more to learn, no room for growth. This is ridiculous.
Admittedly, change can be hard.
There is comfort in the familiar — even the gut wrenching, joy stealing familiar. Counterintuitive — I know.
Yet, if we fail to expand and grow in positive and life-affirming ways we our spirits slowly wilt.
Growth requires change.
